The Sale of Alcoholic Beverages

Schug Winery does not sell alcohol to persons under the age of 21 and makes every effort to ensure that alcoholic beverages are not delivered to anyone who is under the age of 21. By using this site, you affirm and acknowledge that you are over the age of 21, that the person placing the order and receiving a shipment of alcoholic beverages from Schug Winery is over the age of 21 and that receipt of shipments containing alcoholic beverages requires the signature of a person 21 years of age or older who is not intoxicated. You also agree that any alcohol purchased from Schug Winery is intended for personal consumption and not for resale. If you do not agree with these conditions of use, please do not use this site. If you intentionally or unintentionally misrepresent your age in order to provide alcohol to a person under the age of 21, Schug Winery will prosecute you fully to the extent allowable by law. As required by the Communications Decency Act of 1996, Schug Winery hereby notifies you that parental control protections (such as computer hardware, software, or filtering services) are commercially available that may assist you in limiting access to content that may be harmful to minors.

Credit Card Charges

Online orders are taken by credit card only. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover/Novus, and American Express credit cards.  The billing address for any such credit card needs to be provided at the time of your order and must be the address on your credit card statement. All information collected to facilitate a credit card purchase is subject to the terms of our Privacy Policy.

Errors and Omissions

Occasionally, our listed prices, bottle sizes, or quantities may be incorrect. We make every effort to make sure that our product database is accurate, however, in the event any such mistakes occur, Schug Winery shall be held harmless for any such errors. In all cases, the customer will be contacted before any charges are made to the credit card so that the customer can make a decision to proceed or not proceed with the order (if possible).

Sales and Shipping

While Schug Winery takes steps to ensure that your wines are shipped timely, properly, and in a manner that would provide adequate protection, the ultimate responsibility for shipping remains with the customer and the carrier. Rates, transit times, and shipping methods available are subject to change at any time without prior notice.

  • By law, wine must be shipped to adults aged 21 years or older and cannot be shipped to P.O. boxes or left on premises without a signature.
  • We recommend shipping to a commercial address, or an address where an adult is always present, to ensure delivery on the first attempt.

Please allow 24 business hours advanced notice for shipping or pick up requests. If your request needs immediate attention, please call the winery (707) 939-9363 to make necessary arrangements and we will do our best to meet your needs.

Shipping in Extreme Weather

We want your shipping experience to be as low stress as possible, but we care about your wines too. For that reason, your shipments may not be released in extreme weather unless you specifically provide us with permission to do so.

Most customers choose to ship “weather permitting”, meaning wine shipments are not released until temperatures are between 20°F and 80°F at our winery, on your ship date, and at your shipping destination on your estimated delivery date.

If you would like to ship your wine as quickly as possible no matter the weather, you may request that we “ship regardless of the weather” when placing your wine order online. This means you understand that the risks of shipping wine in hot or cold weather include: fresh seepage, elevated or depressed corks, and more. If you choose to ship “regardless of weather”, we will honor no claims made on the condition of the wines upon delivery.

Depending on your location, expedited and temperature-controlled shipping methods may be available. Ice-pack shipper boxes are available upon request in 6-pack and 12-pack sizes for 750ml or smaller sized bottles upon request. Large format, extra wide, and oddly shaped bottles may not be eligible. Rates vary so please contact us to directly to discuss your options.

Sales Tax

All wine is sold in the state of California and the title passes to the buyer in California. All purchases shipped to California addresses will be subject to a 7.25% sales tax except for carry out purchases or those shipped to addresses in Sonoma County where an 8.5% sales tax applies.

Our Guarantee

Schug Winery strives to provide its customers with the highest quality products and service. Your satisfaction is our first priority. If, for any reason, you are dissatisfied with your order, please contact us within 7 days of the date of your order for customer care assistance. For fastest results, contact us by e-mailing Schug Winery. All wine sold by us is maintained at optimum conditions. Schug Winery is not responsible for, and will not replace wine that is damaged by, extreme weather conditions during shipment. We also cannot accept returns for the following: wines that do not coincide with personal tastes, wines that have been adversely affected by customer’s storage, and wines that have been otherwise damaged as a result of any other adverse condition occurring while the wines were in the customer’s care.
