Schug Carneros Estate Winery
Join us in celebrating the 2019 harvest and our hundred-year-old German roots with our biggest event of the year. Admission includes drink tickets, bites, live polka with dancing, and stunning views of Carneros from the Schug Estate. Read more below.
The Schug family’s winemaking roots begin along the Rhein River in Germany, at Domäne Assmannshausen, where Walter Schug spent his childhood and his father Ewald was Winemaster, beginning in 1923. In the early 1900s, as the popularity of Munich’s Oktoberfest grew, the small towns scattered across Germany- including the winemaking regions- began throwing their own versions of the harvest festival. Through this tradition, we continue to celebrate the fall bounty with our annual Schugtoberfest Harvest Party!
We celebrate the fall harvest every year by releasing the newest vintage of our Estate Grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, small-lot bottlings representing the top-tier of fruit from our Carneros Estate Vineyard. And, don’t miss a rare chance to taste Federweisser; a rare, fruity and effervescent wine that can only be served during harvest.
We’ll serve traditional Oktoberfest fare including grilled brats, fresh pretzels, mustards, and of course Chef Kristine’s Zwiebelkuchen- traditional German onion bread and a Schug family recipe!
We’re proud to welcome back Polkageist West for our annual Schugtoberfest tradition! Led by German-born Thomas Seiter on the accordion, along with Joel Lindheimer on guitar and Robert Schroll on tuba, Polkageist West guarantees to have you clapping your hands, stomping your feet, and grooving on the dance floor in no time!
