1939: Walter Schug, age four along with his trusted horse Nero, in front of the famed Höllenberg vineyard of Germany where he grew up. That vineyard, in particular, was a rarity as it was one of the few sites in the Rheingau perfectly suited to grow Spätburgunder; a red wine grape known more commonly throughout the world as Pinot Noir.⁠
